Links for Researching the Dead at Fort Leavenworth

Kansas History-- http://www.goodlandnet.com/history/kidder.htm
Everyone mentioned in the article except for Lt. Kidder is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in a mass grave.

George Custer's Summer Campaign in Kansas--http://www.kshs.org/publicat/khq/1970/70_2_millbrook.htm
Charles Johnson, the deserter mentioned in the article at the above link and shot in the head by one of Custer's officers, is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery but away from his unit. Custer suspected that Johnson and the other deserters were discouraged by the food, such as two-year-old hardtack. Perhaps Johnson had a moment of conscience and left for more noble reasons.

Fort Wallace-- http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/railton/roughingit/map/indbell.html
Dr. Bell describes the death of Charles Clark and Frederick Wyllyams, both of whom are buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
